Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Ed Fleming, a 6-foot-3 wing, was taken by the Rochester Royals in the third round of the 1955 NBA Draft after four years at Niagara University. After two seasons with Rochester, he was traded to the Lakers, where he finished his NBA career. In three seasons with the Lakers, he averaged 7.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19 minutes a game and helped them reach the finals in 1959.
Fleming averaged 8.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 21.2 minutes per game over his five seasons in the NBA before moving on to the Eastern Professional Basketball League.
