Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.

During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

Marv Roberts was an excellent standout at Utah State University, where he averaged 23.6 points and 12.8 rebounds a game in three seasons. The Detroit Pistons took him in the third round of the 1971 NBA Draft, but he opted to play in the rival American Basketball Association (ABA) instead.

The 6-foot-8 big man started out in the ABA with the Denver Rockets and was traded to the Carolina Cougars during the 1973-74 season. The following season, he won a league championship with the Kentucky Colonels, who were led by Artis Gilmore and Dan Issel and coached by the legendary Hubie Brown.

Roberts then joined the Lakers for the 1976-77 season after the ABA folded. In his lone season in the NBA, he averaged 2.1 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 7.5 minutes a game. He retired with career averages of 8.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 19.3 minutes a game across both the ABA and NBA.
