While the Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Jacoby Brissett are at a contract impasse, another quarterback in the NFC West got paid.

The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford agreed to a one-year, $55 million extension that keeps him under contract through 2027. It doesn't lock him into playing in 2027, but there is the possibility.

Stafford, the reigning league MVP, will make $40 million in salary this year and get a deferred $5 million guaranteed bonus next. He can also earn $5 million in playoff incentives.

He can make $45 million in salary in 2027 and would be due a deferred $5 million bonus in 2028, and he could make up to $5 million in playoff incentives.

It means the Cardinals will have to deal with Stafford at least one more season, and it could be two.

Stafford is 10-6-1 in his career in the regular season against the Cardinals with 29 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He also is 1-0 in the postseason against them with two touchdown passes and no interceptions. Including the one game in the playoffs, Stafford is 8-2 against the Cardinals since joining the Rams in 2021.
