Kyrie Irving shared his first post after the Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA draft lottery. The event where the Atlanta Hawks were given the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 was conducted Monday at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.

Dallas beat multiple teams with poor seasons, including the league-worst record Utah Jazz (17-65), Washington Wizards (18-64), Charlotte Hornets (19-63) and New Orleans Pelicans (21-61).

Despite having only a 1.8% chance of getting the No. 1 overall pick, which means they can land Duke star Cooper Flagg in the upcoming draft, the selection landed in Dallas, a team that traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the trade deadline.

Irving, like many others, reacted to the lottery results, taking to social media to share his non-word reaction to his team winning the lottery for the first time in franchise history.

The Mavericks finished the 2024-25 NBA season with a 39-43 record and were eliminated by the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament. They were fresh off an NBA Finals appearance before general manager Nico Harrison decided to blow it up and sent Doncic to Southern California.

With Irving rehabbing an ACL injury and Anthony Davis ready to bounce back in his second season in Dallas, the addition of a player like Flagg would do wonders for this team.

On Tuesday, the 2016 NBA champion took to X to laugh at how slim the Mavs' chances were to get the No. 1 pick.

Having so few chances to get that coveted selection and still getting it must have felt like a championship for Mavericks fans. The No. 2 overall pick was drawn to the San Antonio Spurs, while the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz will select at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

The 2025 NBA Draft will be held on June 25 (first round) and June 26 (second round) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. 59 new players will make it to the association, but as things stand right now, the Mavericks will land the most promising talent.
