One of the best players on the pitch in the World Cup has found the back of the next.

France's captain Kylian Mbappe has scored his first goal of the 2026 World Cup. It came in the 66th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead over Senegal in a battle at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday.

The talented Real Madrid forward was able to convert and find the back of the net.

Mbappe notably scored eight goals to receive the Golden Boot (top goal scorer) and had an unforgettable hat trick in the World Cup Final in 2022, but Lionel Messi fell short to Lionel Messi and Argentina. The 27-year-old superstar started his World Cup career in 2018 with four goals for France, who won the World Cup eight years ago.
