Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber has hit 27 home runs against the Cincinnati Reds, more than he's homered against any opponent.

But when the former Middletown High School standout homered off of Reds starter Andrew Abbott in the third inning of the Reds' 4-1 loss in their series opener, Schwarber did something he hadn't done against Cincinnati and has rarely done throughout his MLB career.

According to Baseball Reference, Schwarber homered on a 3-0 count for the first time against the Reds and just the second time in 12 MLB seasons.

Schwarber's only other homer on a 3-0 count came against the San Francisco Giants' Jarlín García on June 1, 2022.

Reds analyst Jeff Brantley predicted Schwarber's 3-0 blast on the Reds Radio Network.

Schwarber has hit 371 MLB home runs, including a league-leading 31 this season.

Schwarber had never homered off of Abbott. Four of his homers against the Reds have come against Seattle Mariners starter Luis Castillo.
