Tamara Korpatsch defeated Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday to win the Hamburg Ladies Open tournament in her home town which made her the first German winner of the event since Steffi Graf in 1992.

Korpatsch, 31, raced off to a 3-0 lead, overcame a fightback from Hungary's Bondar to 4-3 by winning the next two games and go a set up.

A break for 3-2 then set her on course to victory she clinched on first match point after 1 hour 28 minutes at the Rothenbaum tennis centre which is also the home of her club.

Korpatsch will climb into the top 50 of the world rankings for the first time by virtue of her second career title.
