After a stellar rookie season with the Charlotte Hornets, former Duke Blue Devil Kon Knueppel has earned a significant boost from his initial rating and a spot among NBA 2K27's top 100 players.
Ahead of the release of this year’s game, 2K revealed that Knueppel ranks No. 66 with an 84 overall rating, nine points higher than his initial rating as a rookie.
Knueppel debuted last season with a rating of 75 after being drafted No. 4 overall by the Hornets, but it didn’t take long for him to make a case for an increased rating. By his third game, Knueppel had his first 20-point performance, and by the season’s end, he averaged an impressive 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
Knueppel’s performance established him as the primary competition for Rookie of the Year to former teammate Cooper Flagg and caused his rating to rise significantly, reaching an overall rating of 87 at its highest point.
While his 2K27 rating is a few notches below his peak from the previous iteration, there will be plenty of opportunity for Knueppel to continue raising his standing in the game.
One particular area where Knueppel has earned significant respect is as a 3-point shooter. After setting the record for most 3-pointers made by a rookie in a single season, Knueppel also became the first rookie in NBA history to lead the league in made threes, earning him a 94 3-point rating, second-highest in the game behind only Stephen Curry.
The Hornets underwent a significant restructure this offseason, trading LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a package headlined by Naz Reid.
Without LaMelo, open threes won’t come as easily for Knueppel, but there is also an opportunity for him to establish himself as the team’s secondary scoring option, with a chance to overtake Brandon Miller if he takes a large enough leap.
