The New York Knicks have accepted an invitation to visit the currently Trump-ified White House after taking home their first championship in over half a century, at least according to team owner (and friend of Trump’s) James Dolan.

In a recent interview with WFAN Sports Radio, Dolan, who previously invited Trump to attend a game that ultimately went down as the Knicks’ lone loss in the NBA Finals, confirmed his acceptance of the White House invitation while noting that unspecified “details” still needed to be worked out.

“We just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted,” Dolan said. “We still have to figure out the details, et cetera, but, you know, yes, of course. I mean, look, I invited the president to come down for the game, right? He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”

If the Mike Brown-led Knicks do indeed end up paying a visit to the White House, they would become the first NBA team to do so while Trump was in office. Several teams have declined to do so in the past, including last year’s NBA Finals winners, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It remains to be seen whether the entirety of the Knicks lineup would take part in such a visit. Amid coverage of Trump’s Game 3 attendance, notably, a 2020 social media post from Josh Hart received renewed attention. In it, he expressed excitement at the idea of “Trump’s *******” being out of the White House, presumably in reaction to then-recent news that Biden and Harris had been declared the winning duo of that year’s presidential election.
