Kickoff Classic schedule for Emerald Coast football teams

Welcome back, high school football. We missed you.

After a nine-month hiatus from Friday night lights, the Kickoff Classic returns this week for 10 area teams. Sure it's just the preseason, but all the position battles and depth charts will be finalized in the final tune-up before next week's season opener.

Five area high school football teams will host, while five hit the road. I'll be at Steve Riggs Stadium Thursday night for a welcomed sight of Fort Walton Beach and Niceville renewing their rivalry (last played in 2022), and then Joe Etheredge Stadium Friday night for Choctaw hosting Bay. Here's the schedule for the Kickoff Classic.

Thursday, Aug. 13​

FWB vs. Niceville, 7 p.m. at Steve Riggs Stadium

Crestview vs. Washington, 7 p.m. at Jack Foster Stadium

Friday, Aug. 14​

Choctaw vs. Bay, Friday 7 p.m. at Joe Etheredge Stadium

Baker and Pensacola Catholic at Chipley, Friday 7 p.m.

Navarre at Escambia, Friday 7 p.m.

Destin vs. Arnold, Friday 7 p.m. at Destin Middle School

South Walton vs. Leon, 7 p.m. at The Hawks Nest

Walton at Gulf Breeze, 7 p.m. at Gulf Breeze

Freeport at Bozeman, 7 p.m. at Deane Bozeman Stadium
