Keyshawn Davis has officially withdrawn from his ordered WBO welterweight title fight against champion Devin Haney.
The WBO announced Friday that it was informed of Davis' decision after he rejected the mandatory 25%-75% purse split for the bout, according to ESPN.
Top Rank secured the promotional rights to the fight with a winning purse bid of more than $8.5 million. According to the WBO, Haney was set to earn more than $6.4 million as champion, while Davis, the mandatory challenger, would have received more than $2.1 million.
The Norfolk native declined the purse split for a fight that had been targeted for Oct. 3.
Haney is undefeated at 33-0 with 15 knockouts and captured the WBO welterweight title in November with a victory over Brian Norman Jr. The win made him a world champion in a third weight class after previously holding titles at lightweight and junior welterweight.
Davis, who is 15-0 with 10 knockouts, is a former WBO lightweight champion and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Nahir Albright in May. The WBO said the matter will now be referred to its Championship Committee and Ratings Committee to determine the next steps for the title.
