Key Jaguars' defender has strong showing in training camp practice No. 4

A very important player for the 2026 Jacksonville Jaguars had an impressive showing during the team's fourth training camp practice on Sunday.

Travis Holmes of Big Cat Country highlighted his 10 observations from Sunday's practice, one of which was the play of defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who set the tone early.

Holmes specifically noted the physicality that Armstead was playing with.

"On the very first play," Holmes wrote, "he welcomed Emmanuel Pregnon to the NFL in no uncertain terms, slinging the rookie guard to the ground on a D.J. Dallas run and forcing the back to bounce the other direction. Two plays later, Armstead recorded a tackle for a loss. As a tone-setter, it was about as convincing as it gets."

Through 12 games last season, Armstead totaled 41 quarterback pressures, the third-highest mark among defensive tackles during that stretch. He was also near the top of his position group in sacks.

However, he would have to work through a hand injury during the latter portion of the season, and his production dipped. From Weeks 13-18, he ranked 60th in pressures.

Helping this Jaguars' defense take a step forward in 2026 will be more consistent pressure from the defensive tackle position, and Armstead will, of course, play a key role in whether or not that happens.
