Kentucky women's basketball scored 29 points Saturday before James Madison broke into double figures.
That's all one needs to know to realize how dominant the Wildcats in their first-round NCAA Tournament matchup, downing the Dukes, 71-56, at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia.
With the win, fifth-seeded Kentucky (24-10) advances into the second round of Region 3. It will face the winner of 4-seed West Virginia and 13-seed Miami-Ohio, which play later Saturday.
UK and coach Kenny Brooks made sure James Madison (26-8) didn't have an extended appearance in March Madness.
Clara Strack, Kentucky's superstar center, had yet another double-double (10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds). Point guard Tonie Morgan led the way in the points department, finishing with 18.
Ashanti Barnes had 16 points to pace JMU in the loss.
The second-round game between Kentucky and either West Virginia or Miami-Ohio will be played Monday. Tipoff time and television later will be announced later Saturday.
The second-round victor seals a spot in the Sweet 16, which will be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
