Mark Pope and the Kentucky coaching staff are eyeing a visit with the number one prospect in the Class of 2027.

Many people know Marcus Spears, who was part of the 2003 LSU national champion football team and played nearly a decade in the NFL before getting into television broadcasting.

However, his son, Marcus Spears Jr., is making a name for himself as well. Spears is a 6’9 forward ranked by 247 Sports as the top prospect in the country in the 2027 class.

Kentucky is heavily recruiting Spears, and a visit could be in the works.

Things have been heating up between Kentucky and 2027 No. 1 overall recruit Marcus Spears Jr.

I am told that the two sides are working to set up a visit.

Spears’ cousin, Ryan Hampton, committed to Kentucky earlier this month.

Having Ryan Hampton already in the fold certainly could be a positive as Kentucky pursues Spears. Spears and Hampton are first-cousins and seem to have a close relationship.

Having the ability to play alongside his cousin and friend in Lexington certainly could be appealing for Spears in what is expected to be a tightly-contested recruitment.

Let’s see if Spears soon makes a visit to Lexington.

Dear J Batt,

Please put that big wildcat logo on Rupp Arena court. We've been asking for this forever! I'd probably prefer the classic one, but this design incorporates the current interlocking UK. https://t.co/BBYraPsawLpic.twitter.com/H7xPWlRjGW
