Franck Kepnang was a bit of a surprise addition to the Kentucky Basketball roster from the transfer portal.
There had not been a lot of discussion about the 6’11 big man from Washington when Kepnang committed to Kentucky two months ago from today. Since his arrival in Lexington, Kepnang has had a lot of good things to say about Kentucky.
Kepnang took over the official Kentucky Instagram account yesterday as the team prepared to head to Las Vegas to answer fan questions, and one in particular stood out.
The question: “Why is Kentucky the greatest program in the country?”
Kepnang had a great response.
“Everything here is tailored toward you being the most successful you can be, on and off the court,” he said. “Anything to help you achieve your goals, you have all of the resources you need here. To be an unbelievable person outside the field is possible through the amazing resources they have, not only to help you academically, but also to help you plan life in the future.”
Hopefully, we see Franck have a healthy season this year. If he’s healthy, he could be a key contributor for Kentucky, especially on the defensive end, where he could be one of the best shot-blockers in the SEC.
In 27 games at Washington last season, Kepnang blocked 56 shots for an average of 2.1 blocked shots per game, which ranked in the top 25 nationally and would have been the third-most in the SEC last season.
