The Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball team has had a successful past two seasons under head coach Kenny Brooks. He was brought in from Virginia Tech to upgrade the program, and there's little doubt that he's done exactly that. He's done such a good job that he's gotten the attention of other programs in need of a coach.

Over the weekend, reports emerged that Brooks was contacted by Virginia about their vacancy. He was eventually offered the job, but by Tuesday, Brooks had declined the offer, and the Cavaliers had already hired someone else for the job.

Kenny Brooks was officially offered the Virginia job but turned it down to stay at Kentucky, multiple sources told KSR.

Kentucky has demonstrated that it is serious about its investment in women’s basketball, which kept Brooks in Lexington.

Brooks spent 14 seasons at James Madison before taking the job at Virginia Tech. There, he turned the Hokies into an NCAA Tournament regular, and made the Final Four in 2023. In his first year at Kentucky, he took the Wildcats to the tournament for the first time in three years, and then made the Sweet 16 this season. They're also a team on the rise, with an elite recruiting class on the way.

So far, Brooks has established himself as one of their best coaches of alltime. As such, he's sure to receive plenty of interest from other programs. For now, though, he's staying in Lexington, and Big Blue Nation is sure to be happy about that.
