North Carolina's Anna-Lynn Clark pitched a complete game shutout in the Little League Softball World Series championship game Sunday, Aug. 9, defeating Kentucky 2-0.
Kentucky was unable to produce many chances on offense, only putting a runner in scoring position once, in the first inning. This is the second year in a row that the championship game was a shutout for the winning team.
The Bluegrass State was represented by Daviess County Little League in Owensboro. Until the championship game, it had gone 4-0 in the LLSWS, including defeating New Jersey 2-1 in the single-elimination semifinal game.
Kentucky has yet to win the softball World Series, with this appearance as the 2026 runner-up becoming its new best finish.
Sunday's championship is the fourth time a squad from North Carolina has won it all. The state previously claimed the title in 2024, 2019 and 2015.
