The Los Angeles Chargers and wide receiver Keenan Allen had a great run over the last seven seasons. Allen played six of those seven seasons with the Chargers with a one-year stint in Chicago with the Bears.
During his time with the Chargers, Allen put up three seasons with more than 1,100 receiving yards and four seasons with six or more touchdowns.
Despite the mutual respect and admiration gained between Allen and members of the Chargers organization, Allen remains unsigned this offseason. The longer that trend continues, the more likely it is that the star wideout will play elsewhere in the upcoming season.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton predicts that another team could step up to sign the veteran receiver. Moton shares that the New Orleans Saints could be a perfect fit for Allen. Here's what Moton had to say about that potential move.
"In 2023, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore served as the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive coordinator. He fielded the 13th-ranked passing offense led by wideout Keenan Allen, who caught a career-high 108 passes for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.
Entering his age-34 season, Allen is a chain-moving receiver who can be a safety blanket for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough. Remember, the savvy veteran wideout led the Chicago Bears with seven touchdown receptions in quarterback Caleb Williams' 2024 rookie campaign.
Saints wideout Chris Olave registered nine touchdown receptions last season, scoring on big plays with four outside the red zone. Allen could be the primary target inside the 20-yard line when the ball is in Shough's hands.
New Orleans has an ascending offense with the addition of rookie first-rounder Jordyn Tyson, running back Travis Etienne Jr. and guard David Edwards. Allen can be the next acquisition in a revamped unit."

Signing Allen would indicate something about how the Saints feel about first round draft pick Jordyn Tyson at wide receiver. That's not to say that signing Allen would mean that the Saints do not believe in Tyson, but it could inadvertently communicate that after taking a wide receiver in the Top 10 picks of the draft.
Allen paired with Chris Olave and Tyson would make for a potentially dangerous trio. Still, one has to wonder if the Chargers will have a change of heart on letting Allen walk to another squad.
The Chargers and Allen appear to be heading in different directions for now. We'll monitor any Allen news as the preseason nears.
