Tennis‘s power duo Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend continued their winning ways in the 2026 WTA season. The Sunshine Double champions defeated Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider in straight sets to win their first Mutua Madrid Open together.
The duo overcame a sluggish start to capture the first set in a tiebreaker. They ran away with the second set despite Siniakova sustaining a knee injury. It is their sixth title together.

As can happen on the clay, it was an unexpected twist of her left knee as she was chasing down a ball. Siniakova grimaced and tried to walk it off.
Later, she took an injury time out and her quad was wrapped tightly. It did not appear to hinder her game or movement; however, the question will be how it feels tomorrow.
Siniakova and Townsend are slated to play the Italian Open next week and will be a contender to win their first French Open together later this month.
