The New York Knicks are one win away from claiming their first NBA Championship in 53 years.
Knicks star OG Anunoby delivered one of the most iconic moments in the history of New York sports on Wednesday. The forward tipped in a rebound after a missed Jalen Brunson three-pointer, and the basket secured the third victory of the series for New York.

On Friday, during a team media session, Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns shared his reaction to Anunoby’s game-winning play, comparing it to some of the most memorable moments in Giants history.
“It’s high up on the list of New York moments,” he said. “I think of Derek Jeter hitting a home run to right field, I think of stuff like that. I think of Plaxico Burress catching the ball, I think of Tyree -- David Tyree catching the ball from Eli Manning. It’s going to be up there with some of the greatest moments in New York sports history.”
Towns has played a critical role throughout the Knicks’ playoff run this postseason. Anunoby’s iconic play shares clear similarities with David Tyree’s famous helmet catch, as both were pivotal moments in high-stakes, do-or-die situations.
Towns also referenced former Giants star Plaxico Burress when discussing Anunoby’s play. Burress hauled in a game-winning 13-yard touchdown with 39 seconds remaining in Super Bowl XLII, a moment widely regarded as one of the most iconic in New York sports history, much like Tyree’s catch.
