Kara Braxton, the center who played for Georgia and then 10 years in the WNBA for Detroit/Tulsa, New York and Phoenix, died at the age of 43.
Per the WNBA in a statement released on Sunday about the two-time league champion: "It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of 2x WNBA Champion Kara Braxton. A 10-season veteran, Kara played with the Detroit Shock, Tulsa Shock, Phoenix Mercury, and New York Liberty. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and former teammates at this time."
What was the cause of death? There wasn't one listed and there's no official word yet. We'll make sure to update this post with more information as we get it.
