LAWRENCE — Kansas women’s golf is making NCAA regional appearances a regular occurrence under coach Lindsay Kuhle, as the Jayhawks learned Wednesday they’ve earned another at-large appearance.

Kuhle, in her fourth year at the helm in Lawrence, has now led the program to three-straight NCAA regional appearances. All three times have come through at-large bids. This year, KU is the No. 4 seed in the 12-team Columbus Regional from May 5-7.

“We’re excited. We’ve had probably one of the best seasons in program history,” Kuhle said in a KU release. “To get the opportunity to play again and to play for a national championship, we’re just beyond thrilled, and this is everything we work for. I know the course plays long. It’s a beautiful area and I’ve never been to Ohio State, so we have some research to do in preparing the team. New opportunities, new experiences, and we’re just ecstatic around here and thrilled to go.”

Of the four at-large appearances in program history in a NCAA regional, including 2014, the No. 4 seed is the highest Kansas has received. Previously, the Jayhawks were the No. 14 seed in 2014, No. 9 seed in 2023 and No. 9 seed in 2024. Elsewhere in the Columbus Regional this year, by seed, are No. 1 Arkansas, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 5 Houston, No. 6 SMU, No. 7 UNLV, No. 8 Illinois, No. 9 Kent State, No. 10 Illinois State, No. 11 Xavier and No. 12 Oakland.

Kuhle added in the release that the team has learned a lot from its last two regional appearances, such as how to handle the pressure that comes with them and the gravity of each shot. The competitiveness of the field becomes apparent when these regionals take place. The goal this season, she explained, was to treat each tournament they played like a regional to help them be prepared.
