Kansas Volleyball Returning To Allen Fieldhouse For Two Big 12 Matchups

Kansas volleyball will once again take the floor inside one of college sports' most iconic venues this fall.

The Jayhawks announced Thursday they will host Big 12 matches against Arizona State on Oct. 18 and rival Kansas State on Oct. 30 at Allen Fieldhouse, marking just the second season since 2013 that Kansas volleyball has played home matches in the historic arena.

Head coach Matt Ulmer said the opportunity is one the program has eagerly anticipated.

"Being able to play two great opponents in Allen is something we're extremely excited and thankful for," Ulmer said in a press release. "This is a great opportunity for more Jayhawk fans to watch their team play live at home. We are hopeful that the students and community will make these two matches, two of the best volleyball experiences in the country."

Although Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena has served as the Jayhawks' primary home since 1999 and underwent major renovations in 2019, Allen Fieldhouse remains a special place in program history.

Kansas volleyball called Allen home from 1975-98 before moving into Horejsi. The Jayhawks have returned only sparingly since then, most notably during the 2013 NCAA Tournament, when they defeated Wichita State and Creighton to advance to the regional semifinals.

The program also drew 7,550 fans for last season's match against Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse, the largest crowd to watch Kansas volleyball since the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

This year's return gives fans another chance to experience volleyball in one of the country's most recognizable basketball venues while creating an electric atmosphere for two important conference contests.

Kansas will first welcome Arizona State to Allen on Oct. 18 before hosting in-state rival Kansas State less than two weeks later in what figures to be one of the marquee home matches of the season.

Ticket information for both Allen Fieldhouse matches will be announced at a later date, while season tickets for the 2026 volleyball season are already on sale.
