Kansas softball earned an opportunity to play Oklahoma in an NCAA regional matchup Saturday, but once it was over had a 9-0 loss in tow.

The Jayhawks (36-20), defeated in five innings after the run-rule, only managed one hit over the course of the contest. The Sooners (50-8) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, before a six-run bottom of the fourth broke the game open. The opportunities KU had to put some pressure on Oklahoma weren’t taken advantage of.

So, Kansas will now look ahead to an elimination game Saturday night. That’s currently set for 7 p.m. (CT) in Norman, Oklahoma, against either Michigan or Binghamton. KU beat Michigan 1-0 on Friday in the Norman Regional, on a walk-off hit in the eighth inning.

If Kansas wins its next game, it’ll advance to Sunday and a rematch against Oklahoma. The Jayhawks would need to beat the Sooners twice to win the NCAA regional. Time will tell, though, if they get that chance.
