The league has officially announced compensatory draft picks for the 2026 NFL draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs are again gaining a compensatory pick for the upcoming NFL Draft. The NFL has named the Chiefs one of the 15 franchises to receive a selection this year, after rewarding them with multiple picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Kansas City's lone pick this year is in the fifth round, 176th overall.
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, the NFL states that a team losing more or better compensatory free agents ("CFA") than it acquired in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. The compensatory picks are positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.
The Chiefs lost free agents from the 2025 season, including wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, safety Justin Reid, and defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton, who affected this year's compensation. They gained cornerback Kristian Fulton and offensive lineman Jaylon Moore during free agency last offseason.
Kansas City currently has ten draft picks for Brett Veach and his staff to work with during the 2026 NFL draft.
