Kager Knueppel, a four-star forward, has committed to Duke, becoming the latest example of the Blue Devils' Brotherhood evolving into a family tradition.

After initially voicing a desire to keep his recruitment open despite also holding offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Toledo and DePaul, Knueppel chose Duke, following in his older brother Kon's footsteps.

Knueppel becomes the second member of his family to join Duke. His older brother, Kon, helped lead the Blue Devils to the ACC Tournament title and a Final Four appearance during the 2024-25 season, earning ACC Tournament MVP honors. Kon's experience at Duke gave the Knueppel family a firsthand look at the culture Jon Scheyer has continued to build since succeeding Mike Krzyzewski before Kager ultimately followed him to Durham.

The Knueppels become the fourth set of brothers to suit up for Duke since 2009, joining Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who followed their father Carlos’ path; Tyus and Tre Jones; and Miles, Mason and Marshall Plumlee. The growing list reflects how the Brotherhood has increasingly become a family tradition, and with another three brothers already finding their footing in the game of basketball, there’s even more room to grow.

Like his older brother, Kager is regarded as an elite shooting prospect. At 6-foot-10, however, he offers a rare combination of size and perimeter shooting. Ranked as the No. 52 overall player and No. 9 power forward in the 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite, Knueppel climbed 59 spots since the start of 2026, making him one of the fastest-rising 2027 recruits.

Knueppel was among the Blue Devils' first offers in the 2027 cycle and now becomes their first commitment in the class. Jon Scheyer will continue to look to build for the future after assembling the nation's No. 2 recruiting class in 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite, highlighted by three five-star prospects and two four-star signees.

Kager Knueppel's commitment strengthens Duke's 2027 class, but it also reinforces the culture the program has cultivated for decades. The Brotherhood is more than a slogan. It's a deep-rooted connection that has united generations of Duke players and coaches, one that is increasingly becoming a literal family tradition, passing from one generation of Blue Devils to the next.
