Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio set for summer exit

Michele Di Gregorio’s recent penalty save against Aaron Martin during Juventus’ clash with Genoa may not be enough to secure his long-term future in Turin.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, despite the goalkeeper’s heroics at the Allianz Stadium, the club’s hierarchy is increasingly leaning toward a summer departure for the former Monza man.

Notably, the Italian international has attracted significant interest from several Premier League clubs, who are drawn to his proficiency with his feet and shot-stopping abilities. Juventus, who invested approximately €18 million to bring him to the club in 2024, are now keen to capitalize on this external market interest. The goal is to secure a substantial capital gain that would benefit the club’s balance sheet, especially as they have already begun identifying more experienced targets, such as Liverpool’s Alisson, to take over the starting role.

Indeed, the feeling within Continassa is that Di Gregorio has been unfairly hampered by the extreme technical instability surrounding the club. Since his arrival, the goalkeeper has navigated a crumbling project that saw three different sporting directors and three coaching changes, moving from Thiago Motta to Igor Tudor and finally to Luciano Spalletti. While he was originally handpicked by Cristiano Giuntoli to fit Motta’s specific tactical demands, the subsequent shifts in the dugout have completely altered the profile Juventus is now looking for in a number one.

Consequently, the move from Monza to a top-tier club appears destined to be a short chapter for the 28-year-old. With Juventus eager to cut ties and reset their technical project, a move to England represents a fresh start for Di Gregorio and a strategic financial opportunity for the Bianconeri as they look to overhaul their squad once again.
