New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto made MLB history when he signed a 15-year, $765 million contract this past offseason. The deal came after Soto spent just one season with the New York Yankees, helping them win the American League pennant before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
On Friday, Soto will face the Yankees for the first time since leaving in free agency. The Subway Series is always exciting, but this year perhaps has more intrigue than ever before. In his one season with the Yankees, Soto hit a career-high 41 home runs and drove in 109 runs.

After the Mets fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, Soto was asked about this upcoming series against his former club. After revealing he is most excited for Bronx crowd, the left-handed hitting slugger was asked about the boos that are expected to rain down.
"I don't mind," he said.
In his first season with the Mets, Soto has appeared in 43 games. The four-time All-Star currently owns a career-low .845 OPS, which still translates to a well-above league average 144 OPS+.
As he has shown this season, Soto's floor as a hitter is perhaps the highest in baseball. Even a down-year puts him among the game's very best, and there is certainly more than enough time for him to heat up and get back on-par with his career numbers.
Both the Mets and Yankees will enter this highly-anticipated series atop their respective divisions, heightening the excitement around this series.
