Third-choice goalkeeper for PSG last season, young Italian-Brazilian Renato Marin is set to leave on loan to Portugal, but not to Sporting Braga, where he had previously been linked.
Highly appreciated within PSG, where he arrived last summer from Roma, the Italian-Brazilian Renato Marin will nevertheless play for another club next season, according to information from Portuguese media outlet MaisFutebol.
According to journalist Bruno Andrade, Marin will be loaned to Nacional for the 2026-27 season, one of the clubs from Madeira. Marin had offers from Italy, according to the same source, a country where he played for years.
After making three appearances for PSG during the 2025-26 season, the 19-year-old goalkeeper will be able to gain professional playing time, something he had been seeking.
The loan will naturally not include an option to buy, as Paris is determined to retain control over a goalkeeper regarded as highly promising. The move will also allow Nacional, a club expected to battle against relegation, to benefit from a player with considerable potential.
Born in Brazil but having moved to Italy at a young age, Renato Marin, who chose to represent Italy internationally, had previously been linked with Braga, another Portuguese club that shares QSI ownership ties with PSG. That will ultimately not happen, and Marin is instead expected to join a less ambitious side where he will face significantly less competition for playing time.
There had already been previous reports indicating that Luis Enrique and Luis Campos viewed Marin as having enough potential to become Paris Saint-Germain’s starting goalkeeper in the future.
This move by the Parisian club confirms that belief to some extent, as had he remained with the club next season, his playing time would obviously have been very limited.
By sending him on loan to a team that will be fighting to avoid relegation in the Portuguese league, the message is clear.
They want him to feel like an important part of the project wherever he goes, and they do not want to risk him not playing.
Marin will arrive at Nacional as the undisputed starting goalkeeper, and that will undoubtedly help his development and prepare him for a future in which he can show Paris what he is capable of.
We will see how the Italian-Brazilian goalkeeper performs, and we wish him the very best of luck.
