The NFL calendar may be quiet compared to the frenzy of free agency and NFL draft season, but that doesn't stop trade rumors from making the rounds. Recently, some Philadelphia Eagles fans found themselves revisiting a familiar name: Josh Sweat. A former fan favorite hasn't been with the Arizona Cardinals long, but there is speculation that he's unhappy.
That fire added fuel when he was absent for offseason OTAS, even though we're talking about voluntary attendance. Speculation began circulating on social media that he could already be on the move. Various rumors suggested Philadelphia and the Green Bay Packers as potential landing spots. Other reports claimed the Dallas Cowboys had shown interest before being turned away.
Part of the intrigue stemmed from recent reporting by The Guardian's Ollie Connolly, who was among those connected to developments surrounding Philadelphia's acquisition of Jonathan Greenard. That credibility led some fans to pay closer attention when additional chatter about player movement surfaced elsewhere online.
Josh Sweat's massive deal seemed enough to silence rumors of a possible Josh Sweat-Eagles reunion, but fans showed interest anyway. That will lessen some of the impact after Ian Rapoport's update. According to an NFL Network insider, Sweat is not expected to be traded. He remains part of Arizona's plans moving forward.
The report effectively ends the growing speculation and suggests the Cardinals have little interest in moving one of their more established defensive players. Things can change. Sometimes they fo (see Myles Garrett), but this isn't entirely surprising.
Arizona invested heavily in Sweat and viewed him as a foundational piece when he arrived, but again, some observers have speculated that he hasn't appeared entirely comfortable during his short tenure with the Cardinals. Still, there has been little credible reporting suggesting either side is actively pursuing a separation.
As always, things can change quickly in the NFL. For now, however, Eagles fans hoping for a Josh Sweat homecoming have a clearer sense of the chances. The Eagles moved on from their Super Bowl hero, and based on the latest reporting, Arizona doesn't appear interested in helping to bring him back.

This has gained some steam on social media, so just to provide some clarity: #AZCardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat is not being traded. Not to the #Packers or anywhere. Carry on… pic.twitter.com/bImuZfvWLq
