Josh Harris knew whatever he said would have an audience in the DMV.
So Harris put it out there that the Washington Commanders have something up their sleeve. Harris said the RFK stadium site will have an interesting-shaped scoreboard. Well, we have no idea what that means. It would be hard to believe that Harris would consider a huge rectangular or square-shaped scoreboard interesting. So what does he mean? Football-shaped? Helmet-shaped? Who knows, but he has many of us talking about it, doesn't he?
When asked about the April 15 announcement concerning the uniforms, Harris replied, "The priority is honoring our past and then looking to the future, right? Updating, but not forgetting about our heritage, who we are, and honoring that. So we have a bunch of things up our sleeve. I don't want to ruin the surprise."
"Things up our sleeve" he said. Well, the Super Bowl-era Redskins uniforms are said to be returning. These were worn in all four Super Bowls Washington played, winning three under head coach Joe Gibbs. The Redskins wore white tops and burgundy pants at home in those years. Therefore, they also wore it often on the road as most home teams chose to wear their colored home jersey. But there were a few times each season we would get to see the burgundy jerseys with white pants.
Perhaps the spear is making somewhat of a franchise comeback. There was the video with Frankie Luvu and the spear and Darrell Green on the field with the spear late last season. Perhaps are the Commanders going to wear a throw back uniform scheme that features the spear on the helmet? Washington wore a helmet with a spear from the 1965-69 seasons. Remember, they also did this during the 70th franchise anniversary during the 2002 season.

Alternate burgundy spear helmets and uniforms are a must for the @Commanders this season.

The Commanders have been dropping hints over the past year.
