INDIANAPOLIS — Another Indianapolis 500 winner’s race came to an end early when Josef Newgarden spun and hit the outside retaining wall on Lap 125.

The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner was running in fourth place as the race was going back to green when Newgarden lost control of his No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet in Turn 4. The car spun around and hit the wall with the front and left sides of the car.

Newgarden climbed from the car and leaned against the safety vehicle attending to his car before leaving the accident scene. The race had been under yellow for conditions before Newgarden’s accident.
