The Golden State Warriors were at home on Saturday night as they hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves for Game 3 of their second-round series.

Golden State entered Saturday’s contest looking to regain control of the series on their home court after their blowout loss in Game 2 in Minnesota on Thursday.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, they were unable to hold off the hard-charging Timberwolves as Minnesota was able to make a comeback in the fourth quarter to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

For the Warriors, Jimmy Butler led the way as he recorded 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in 43 minutes.

Jonathan Kuminga also played a key role off the bench for the Warriors as he finished the game with 30 points, a playoff career high, six rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes in the loss.

With Kuminga’s incredible performance, he also made Warriors franchise history as he did everything in his power to will Golden State to a victory, though they came up short.

For Kuminga, he became the youngest player in Warriors history to score 30 or more points off the bench in a playoff game.

This is an impressive feat for Kuminga, especially after head coach Steve Kerr had elected to bench him to begin the playoffs.

Kerr decided to bench Kuminga since the final game of the regular season due to his fit next to Butler in the lineup but with Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry sidelined due to a left hamstring strain, Kerr decided that it was time for Kuminga to return to the rotation.

This was a great move by Kerr as Kuminga played well in Game 2 of the series and he then backed it up with a historic performance in Game 3, although the Warriors were unable to pick up the victory.

Because of his performance, Kuminga has likely played his way back into the rotation and he and the Warriors will now look to even up the series on Monday night at home in Game 4.
