It's been quite some time since Jonathan Kuminga has had an active, solid role for the Golden State Warriors.
A long mid-season injury and the acquisition of Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline threw Kuminga's role for a loop.
The 22-year-old forward averaged over 15 points per game in the regular season, and fans were waiting for a leap from him all year long.
After Stephen Curry went down with an injury in Game 1 of the Warriors' second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr was willing to try anything.

Just like when Butler was injured in round one, Kuminga was one of the players who got the call. The young forward played 26 minutes, scoring 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
While the Warriors might have suffered a Game 2 loss, with the series being evened at 1-1, Kuminga has reason for optimism.
He was able to get into a rhythm in his own regard, which hasn't been the case in quite some time.
With the G League Ignite product set to hit free agency this offseason, albeit restricted free agency, Kuminga was able to show a little bit of life as it pertains to his potential.
In his words, he got his confidence back.
“I feel like the confidence just came back," Kuminga said after the loss.
If Kuminga can continue to provide this impact, regardless of who is on the hardwood, he will be hard to keep on the bench.
The Warriors now head back to San Francisco for Game 3 against the Timberwolves, where they will look to regain their series lead.
