Just ahead of his first MMA fight, former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel talked about what life in Cleveland was like.
In a word, Manziel hated living in Cleveland.
“That place definitely aided to my depression for sure.” he said.
“Man I hated Cleveland so much and I know that’s going to be so tough to hear.”
Manziel talked about how he thought he could handle being in Cleveland. He talked about how nice the downtown area was, LeBron James was coming back, which was bringing excitement to the city, and then the late fall and winter hit.
“Coming from Texas, then that first real November was like [Expletive] brutal, then that winter was like what the [Expletive]?“It was tough sledding for me for sure,” Manziel added.
Manziel said his second year was better than his first year. He bought a house in a nice suburb and seems to like it more.
It’s well documented that Manziel has talked about his battles with depression and drug use over the years, and his years with the Browns were a bit wild. It seems that things started to unravel while he was there.
