Soon-to-be free agent John Franklin-Myers joined Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on The Insiders to discuss his days with the Denver Broncos and what he expects as he enters the free agent market for the first time.
While the veteran defensive tackle was noncommittal about his intentions, talking about embracing the process, one of his comments echoed something Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh has said since his introductory press conference.
“I know what I’m capable of, I know what I’m going to do wherever I go next,” he said. “I’m gonna play my style of football, I’m gonna play physical, I’m gonna play with effort, I’m gonna play with violence. That’s what I do.”
While that in itself is not much, he did crack a smile when the topic of Saleh came up, and the recent back-and-forth social media interaction after a recruitment attempt by newly acquired Titans defensive end Jermaine Johnson was brought up during the interview.
Franklin-Myers attempted to deflect the topic, but his reaction speaks volumes.
“That’s the best part of football, it’s the relationships you create.” He said, “And Jermaine is a friend for life, a brother for life, and it’s amazing hearing from him.”
Of course, nothing official can happen until the start of the new league year, but agreements can be made when the legal tampering period opens, and there is a good chance that Franklin-Myers is one of the first phone calls general manager Mike Borgonzi makes.
