Whether the Boston Celtics were playing him alone or as part of a double-big tandem, the debut of former Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic did not exactly start off on the best foot, with Boston falling into a double-digit deficit vs. the Miami Heat early at TD Garden on Friday (Feb. 6) night. But by the end of the evening, Vooch and the Celtics had found their groove on the way to the Montenegrin logging 11 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in Boston's 98-96 win over the Heat.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla had a lot to say about Vucevic's first tilt as a Celtics postgame, especially considering how little preparation the former Bulls big man had ahead of suiting up for Boston after being dealt there. "One, I thought he did a great job from the day he got to Boston right to tip off," said Mazzulla.

"Preparing for everything, our language, our coverage, is what we needed to do," he added. "And I thought he put himself in the position to help us."

"And then I think credit to the guys for having a quick understanding about why we acquired him and how he can make us better, and how we can help to make him better," continued the Celtics coach.

"And so I thought those two things were kind of on display tonight on both ends of the floor, and he impacted winning. So we’ve got to continue to get better in a bunch of areas, and it starts with that togetherness, that communication and, that execution."
