Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow weighed in on the drama surrounding the Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos Jan. 17 playoff game.

And Burrow's take is in contrast to those of former NFL stars.

Bills fans have criticized the referees from the divisional round matchup after a possible overtime catch by Bills wide receiver Brandin Cooks was ruled an interception, thrown by quarterback Josh Allen and picked off by Broncos cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian.

Buffalo lost the game 33-30. But had Cooks caught the ball, the Bills would've had possession deep in Broncos' territory.

Fans' criticisms grew after a seemingly similar situation occurred during the Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears divisional game Jan. 18. This time, however, the refs said it was a catch.

"Thursday Night Football" analyst and former cornerback Richard Sherman, who played 11 seasons in the NFL, wrote on X, "I have never seen a contested catch like this ever be called anything but a catch."

Terrell Owens, one of the best wide receivers of all time, agreed.

"NOTHING BUT FACTS!" he wrote on X, in response to Sherman. "And the (NFL wonders) why people think these games are rigged!! (Buffalo Bills) yall got straight hosed!!"

Burrow believes otherwise.

"The amount of ppl that don't understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasts me. And it's not the officials," the two-time Pro Bowler wrote on X on Jan. 19.

"The two plays yesterday were not difficult calls, and they got them both right," he wrote.

The post was Burrow's first X post in nearly two years. His last came in April 2024, when he wrote, "18 games? 2 bye weeks," although he did re-post a video promoting "Quarterback" season 2 on Netflix in July 2025.
