Joe Burrow has ended his nearly two-year absence from X (formerly Twitter) to defend NFL officiating after a couple of controversial catch rulings from this weekend's Divisional Round action.

"The amount of ppl that don’t understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasts me," Burrow said in his first post since April 2024. "And it’s not the officials. The two plays yesterday were not difficult calls, and they got them both right."

Burrow is referring to two plays in Saturday's game between the Bills and Broncos and Sunday's game between the Bears and Rams. In the former, there was an apparent tie-up between Buffalo receiver Brandin Cooks and Broncos corner Ja'Quan McMillan before the latter ripped the ball away in a play that was ruled an interception.

In the latter, a similar play was ruled a catch by Davante Adams.

Naturally, fans were frustrated with the perceived inconsistency with the two calls, but Burrow felt strong enough about the refs getting the play right that he broke his social media silence to defend them.
