Joao Cancelo appears to be edging closing to securing a permanent move to Barcelona from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal and could even reportedly move on a free transfer.
The two clubs have been in negotiations over the summer, with claims that Al-Hilal want a fee of around 10-15 million euros for the defender who is under contract until 2027.
However, a new update has now emerged from Saudi Arabia sports newspaper Arriyadiyah and reporter Hamad Al-Suwaih which spells good news for Barcelona.
“Al-Hilal nears the signing of contract termination agreement with Cancelo, paving the way for his signing with Spanish club Barcelona,” according to the reporter.
Cancelo has made it crystal clear he wants to stay at Barcelona after enjoying himself back at Camp Nou last season in a second loan spell and could be about to return ahead of the start of the new La Liga season.
The defender missed Al-Hilal’s opening game of the season, with manager Simone Inzaghi saying after the match that any decision on the Portugal’s star future was down to the club’s board.
