After the Los Angeles Lakers got blown out 119-96 by the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day, coach JJ Redick made his disgust clear during the postgame press conference. He said his players "don't care enough" and that the team's upcoming meeting and practice would be "uncomfortable."
That meeting and practice have come and gone, and according to Redick, the team was productive.
When talking to the media on Saturday, he also showed some self-reflection, which came in contrast to the criticism some fans and members of the media gave him after calling out his players following Thursday's loss.
Redick felt several players in particular were more culpable than others for the loss to Houston, and he said that he told them what he expects from them, per ESPN.
The Lakers will have an opportunity almost right away to show that they have heeded Redick's guidance by taking on the Sacramento Kings on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena. Two nights later, they will host the Detroit Pistons, who have the Eastern Conference's best record and are one of the NBA's best at capitalizing on mistakes.

"Myself, I'm always going to look in the mirror first," said Redick. "And I think it's easy as a player, as a coach to say, 'It's this guy's fault,' or, 'We're not doing this because X, Y, and Z.'
"We had a great meeting as a staff this morning. Came in super early and we met with the players, and it was very positive and it was also listening. It was also for our staff, myself, to listen to the players and what they need."

"I think they are, and I think the group is aware," Redick said. "The group feels it. They're on the court together. They're in the huddles together. … There wasn't anything that needed to be addressed that wasn't addressed."
