Add another one to the tally – Colombia has scored its fifth goal at the 2026 World Cup.
Jhon Arias scored in the 14th minute in Colombia's round of 32 match against Ghana on Friday, July 3 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The goal brought the score to 1-0 Colombia.
Colombia is trying to make the round of 16 for the fourth time in the history of the national team. In both of Los Cafeteros' previous World Cup appearances – 2014 and 2018 – they made it at least as far as the round of 16. Their 2014 run included a trip to the quarterfinals.
This World Cup marks the first one that requires a knockout stage win to advance to the round of 16, thanks to the expansion of the field to 48 teams. Previously, the round of 16 was the first round of the knockout stage at the World Cup.
Colombia won Group K at the 2026 World Cup with wins over Uzbekistan and DR Congo in addition to a scoreless draw with Portugal. A win over Ghana would put Los Cafeteros into a round of 16 matchup with Switzerland.
