The New York Jets are counting on steps forward from a number of ascending players. One of the most important assets on the rebuilding Jets is sophomore right tackle Armand Membou. Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn need Membou to keep growing into a cornerstone player.

Membou was stellar as a rookie after the Jets selected him with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The former Missouri standout played more than 1,000 snaps at right tackle. A few inconsistencies led Pro Football Focus to claiming Membou allowed eight sacks, and he was whistled for 11 penalties.

Now heading into a crucial sophomore season, Membou sees his arrow pointing up.

"I definitely feel a lot better now," Membou said following a recent Jets practice. "Coming in last year, I [was dealing] with the pre-draft [process]. This year, I had a full offseason to train and really focus on football. I definitely feel a lot more comfortable."

Membou is correct that the pre-draft process ironically leaves rookies unprepared for their rookie season. Having a complete offseason to focus on football should be beneficial for Membou. The Jets are counting on it.

The offensive line should be a strength for the rebuilding Jets. Membou and Fashanu are forming an ascending duo at offensive tackle. Membou could help the Jets' offensive line spearhead a pretty productive unit.
