The Jets are conducting their rookie minicamp this weekend. Ahead of the festivities, the team has begun getting its Draft class under contract.

First round pick, Kenyon Sadiq, fourth round pick Cade Klubnik, and sixth round pick Anez Cooper have signed their respective rookie deals.

Holdouts in the day and age of the rookie wage scale are rare. There just isn’t much to negotiate.

With that said, the Jets have been an exception across the league since the adoption of the rookie wage scale in 2011. Four Draft picks were unsigned for the start of training camp in that span. One might speculate that the issue popping up over and over across different front offices is a possible sign the team’s illustrious owner has been part of the problem.

Either way, it’s nice to see the current Jets not let these matters linger. The first step on the road to a holdout is putting off the seemingly basic matter of negotiating rookie deals, and we are seeing the opposite approach here.
