Jets get bad news on Kyler Murray in free agency amid Vikings rumor originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
This offseason, the New York Jets have some work to do on both sides of the ball. But, there's no more pressing issue that the Jets need to resolve than the quarterback room.
Justin Fields was a failed $40 million experiment, and with his $20 million 2026 contract still being on the books, the Jets would, ideally, land a cheaper veteran free agent quarterback this offseason.
Kyler Murray would be the perfect option after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals. However, according to Connor Hughes of SNY, the Jets got some bad news on Murray thanks to a rumor about the Minnesota Vikings.

"Kyler Murray was discussed," Hughes reports, "but he is expected to sign with the Vikings, per sources."
The Vikings are expected to be the winners of the Murray sweepstakes this offseason. It's a tough blow for the Jets, as Murray would've been perfect for this team.
While the Vikings are a good landing spot, with playoff aspirations thanks to a great defense and superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson, the J.J. McCarthy situation is an odd one.
If Murray were to join the Jets, he would be the unquestioned starter and would have some solid options on offense.

Not only is the Jets' offensive line solid, but the offensive personnel is good enough to convince Murray to come to New York.
Breece Hall, Mason Taylor, Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, and likely a rookie wide receiver in the first 44 picks would be a solid offense to join.
However, this report from Hughes suggests that Murray will be going to the Vikings this offseason. That will leave the Jets in the second tier of the QB free agent market, with Tua Tagovailoa, Carson Wentz, and Geno Smith as a few options.
