The New York Jets are tasked with hiring a new defensive coordinator this offseason. Head coach Aaron Glenn dismissed Steve Wilks after his unit allowed 48 points versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Chris Harris took over the DC role on an interim basis for the final three games but failed to improve the defense, allowing an average of 35.3 points during the three games he was in charge for.

The Atlanta Falcons fired Raheem Morris after he oversaw consecutive 8-9 seasons. The two-time head coach is unlikely to receive a third opportunity, though he is interviewing for the Tennessee Titans' vacancy. Morris is more likely to end up as a defensive coordinator in 2026. He's one of the best defensive play-callers in the league. The Jets should absolutely make contact with him.
Jonathan Gannon never had a winning season in Arizona and that's why the Cardinals fired him on Monday. But he absolutely thrived as the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive coordinator prior to taking the Cardinals job, and his defense in Arizona was pretty good too. He led a dominant Eagles defense to a historic 70 sacks in 2022.
