Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dylan Samberg appeared to suffer an injury against the Edmonton Oilers, but HC Scott Arniel told the media following the game that Samberg should be fine.

The Jets rested multiple players last night, and one player who would have likely wanted to have the game off is Samberg. The 26-year-old blocked a Connor McDavid shot, forcing him to exit the game with a lower-body injury.

Samberg has emerged as the Jets' best defensive defenseman, proving to be vital to keeping the puck out of their net. His ability to defend the rush with his skating, break up cycle opportunities with his stick and use his 6'4 frame to clear the front of the net is why the Jets are outscoring their opponents 56-36 at 5-on-5 with Samberg on the ice.

He's also become a contributor offensively, scoring six goals and 20 points in 59 games. He's more comfortable jumping into the rush and seeking out opportunities to pose a threat.

The news stating that he is "okay" and will be further evaluated tomorrow is a major relief for the Jets.

With one game remaining on the schedule, it's highly unlikely we'll see Samberg play in the final game of the regular season.
