Jets defensive back Kris Boyd was shot early Sunday morning and is in critical but stable condition, according to multiple reports.
The Jets "are aware of the situation involving" him and "have no further comment at this time," they said in a statement that was sent to multiple outlets, including The Post.
The New York Police Department told multiple outlets that a 29-year-old male was shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant at West 38th Street in Manhattan around 2 a.m. and transported to Bellevue Hospital.
Authorities did not mention Boyd by name, according to the reports that cited contact with the NYPD. A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told NBC News that Boyd was the man involved.
Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson II took to social media asked for prayers for Boyd.
"Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!!" Johnson wrote Sunday at 12:41 p.m. on X. "Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just het him through this safely.
"In your name, Amen."
No arrests have been made, but police told the outlets in contact that they were searching for a man who fled the scene in a blue BMW.
The Jets do not play a game this weekend. Their Week 11 game was this past Thursday's 27-14 loss at the New England Patriots.
Boyd, 29, is in his eighth NFL season.
He signed a one-year contract for $1.6 million in March but suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in August, landing on injured reserve.
In 81 games from 2019-24 with the Minnesota Vikings (2019-22), Arizona Cardinals (2023) and Houston Texans (2024), Boyd totaled 86 tackles, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
The Vikings selected Boyd from Texas with the No. 217 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
