The Jets have found Tanner Engstrand’s replacement as offensive coordinator. Long-time NFL coach Frank Reich will take the role per Adam Schefter.
Reich served as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2018 through 2022 and the Carolina Panthers in 2023. He most recently spent the year as interim head coach at Stanford University in 2025. Prior to his head coaching gigs, Reich was the offensive coordinator of the (then-) San Diego Chargers from 2014 to 2015 and the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016 to 2017. The Eagles won the Super Bowl in his final year there behind backup quarterback Nick Foles.
He had a long playing career and was one of the greatest backup quarterbacks in history. His most notable moment as a player came in the 1992 Playoffs when he helped the Bufffalo Bills overcome a 35-3 deficit to beat the Houston Oilers.
Reich spent one season as a player with the Jets as the backup quarterback on Rich Kotite’s 1-15 team in 1996. Injuries to starter Neil O’Donnell led him to make seven starts that season. Reich was notably a teammate of current Jets head coach Aaron Glenn on that team.
