Jordyn Brooks has been on the Dallas Cowboys' radar for months, and now Dallas may have found the trade chip that gets a deal done.

FanSided's Wynston Wilcox suggested trading Guyton and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for the linebacker. The move would let Jerry Jones move on from an offensive line vulnerability while upgrading the defense.

The logic centers on Dallas' offensive line, which ranked No. 18 recently, with a significant portion of that lower grade tracing back to Guyton. Over 650 snaps in 2025, he earned a 57.5 overall PFF grade, ranking 71st out of 89 qualified tackles.

His pass protection was worse, ranking 81st after allowing 31 pressures, two sacks, and six quarterback hits. Dallas has already prepared for a potential roster change. They drafted Penn State Nittany Lions' Drew Shelton in the fourth round as a swing tackle, and journeyman Nate Thomas has 17 games of experience if Guyton is traded.

On the flip side, Brooks is coming off a solid year. He actually led the entire NFL with 183 tackles last season, adding 3.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. He’s entering the final year of the three-year, $26.25 million contract, and Miami's GM Jon-Eric Sullivan seems open to trading him since the Dolphins want to get younger.

Wilcox thinks Dallas will take their time with this, penning, "The Cowboys are going to see what their young players do through the preseason and evaluate if it's worth turning to more stability. Once they're hovering around a playoff spot, they'll make a desperate move and that feels like this."

This trade makes sense for Dallas. Their defense struggled last year, giving up a league-worst 30.1 points per game. Putting Brooks next to DeMarvion Overshown would fix their depth issues at linebacker.

However, giving up on Guyton this early will be a very tough call since he was a first-round pick. But if his film shows he cannot handle left tackle, trading him for a top defender is exactly the kind of value Jerry Jones looks for.
